Two looks, one piece: the case for the reversible vest

Buying less but better is fashion's big conversation. Here is why one reversible, hand-stitched jacket can do the work of two.

The fashion industry is wrestling with a simple, uncomfortable fact: most of us own more clothes than we wear. As the conversation shifts from buying more to buying better, one old idea is looking newly modern: the reversible garment.

Cost per wear

The most useful number in a wardrobe is not the price, it is the price divided by the number of times you wear something. A jacket you reach for twice a week for five winters will cost less per wear than a cheaper piece worn a handful of times. A reversible vest doubles the outfits it can make without doubling what you own.

Craft that earns its keep

Our reversible vests are handcrafted in Jaipur, pairing an artisan cotton face, block printed or hand-stitched, with pure silk or a second printed cotton face, each side with its own character: a quiet face for the city and a printed face for the weekend.

One piece, two looks, and a reason to buy less.

Caring for it so it lasts

  • Dry clean recommended, to keep both faces at their best.
  • Steam lightly, or iron low from the cotton side.
  • Store on a broad hanger, away from direct sunlight.
  • Mend early: a loose running stitch is easy to fix.

The debate about overconsumption will not be settled by one vest. But every piece that is worn, loved and handed on is a small vote for a better way to dress.
