How to Style an Oversized Tee: 6 Easy Outfits
The oversized tee works with almost everything once you balance the proportions. Six easy outfits to get more from yours.
An oversized tee is the easiest piece in your wardrobe to wear and the easiest to get wrong. The trick is balance: when the top is relaxed, keep something else in the outfit clean and considered.
1. With tailored trousers
Pair a heavyweight tee with straight, pressed trousers and leather shoes. The contrast between the relaxed tee and the sharp trouser is what makes it work.
2. With straight-leg denim
The classic. Choose a straight or relaxed leg rather than skinny jeans, so the proportions stay even from top to bottom. A half tuck at the front adds shape.
3. Under a reversible vest
A vest gives an oversized tee instant structure. Wear one of our reversible vests over a plain tee such as the Denim Blue or Drop, then turn the vest to its other face for a completely different look.
4. With tailored shorts
For summer, keep the shorts a little longer and neatly cut. Add clean trainers and the outfit looks finished, not lazy.
5. Under an open overshirt
Layer an open overshirt or light jacket over your tee. A graphic tee works well here, because the print shows through the opening without being the whole outfit.
6. Let the back print speak
Some of our tees carry their main graphic on the back, like the Rebel. Keep the rest of the outfit simple and let it be the detail people notice as you walk away.
Getting the size right
Our tees are cut oversized with a dropped shoulder. Take your usual size for a relaxed fit, or one size down for a closer fit. See the Size Guide for measurements.
